Laurie Kalesse Dokken - Textile Bags

email: Laurie Kalesse Dokken

EULOGIA STUDIO

What started out as a desire to decrease my stash of fabrics with the realization that textiles are not a staple of most lives, ended up six years later just the opposite. I have more fabric than I can use in my lifetime.  And yes, textiles are a staple of my life.

The texture and colors of decorator fabrics have appealed to me for decades. Most of the textiles I now use are already recycled into their present form and then purchased from a supplier that buys over runs.  Most are considered “hospitality” textiles, which are used in hotels, offices and restaurants, and because of this, the durability rating is much higher than average fabrics.

I started out by making Asian influenced jackets and with the extras created little bags. Now the jackets and the bags have flip-flopped. I enjoy the challenge of making practical and functional bags that have character. Whether they are used for traveling, general downsizing or for a busy lifestyle, they are all individually made.
