My experience began with quilting. But in 1991 I was determined to begin creating my own
designs and work in any and all styles. Many times my subject matter is researched thoroughly
before I begin that project. I created a piece for Alzheimer's Association and read all I could
find about the disease before beginning. I wanted to get the feel and was able to depict
Alzheimer's and not be sad, but put on fabric what I saw.

My studies in design included teachers from all different approaches.

Teachers: Ericka Carter, Nancy Crow, Katie Pasquini Masopust, Lorraine Torrance,
Hollis Chatelaine, David Walker, Ned Wert, Michael James and many others. Each one had
their own approach, whether it was choosing the subject matter to techniques and even
finishing techniques.

I learned to paint with fabric paint and with dye to create the fabric that I desired.
Subject matter was a very important lesson, I didn’t know how to find what it was that
I wanted to do. People need to look at everything in front of them whether it be nature,
the lines in buildings, and everything in between. Even the fabric in the store lends
itself to the subject matter in all of my pieces. I allow the fabric guide me to the
finished project.

Our Art is who we are; all of our experiences bring us to this point and influence every
thing we do.

I enjoy abstract as well as realism. I do not enjoy landscapes unless they are abstract.
But when it came to my eagle, I made sure that every detail was accurate.

I enjoy commissioned work as well as creating my own thing.
