Robin’s McKann’s Newest Table at Gallery Nine

This beautiful example of fine woodworking and exceptional wood is made of Figured Western Maple and Rosewood.

Robin McKann’s newest project is a variation of a piece that he made late last year. Each piece is different, in that he works with the wood to bring out the individual characteristics and beauty of each piece selected. In this table, the spaces between each section of the wheel are incorporated into the table so as to allow for the expansion of the solid slabs of wood. The top of the table was taken from three different planks from the same tree, rather than one round that made up the last table in this design.

His work continues to express the beauty of the wood enhanced by the design itself. This piece has been called ‘a flower, a mushroom, a dance of nature’ What would you call it? Come by Gallery 9 in Port Townsend to view his newest piece.

Gallery Nine is located at 1012 Water Street, right downtown in Port Townsend and is open seven days a week. It features the work of over 20 local Olympic Peninsula artists.
